I don't know when my phobia of spiders began, but I can tell you as I have gotten older, they might still terrify me to the point of hyperventilation, but I can respect their job in this world. I mean, most of them, Black Widows & Brown Recluse are clearly tiny killer demons, and Wolf Spiders are the most disturbing of all with their giant furry bodies & millions of babies that scatter when you squish one. Ew.
All that to say, this week I met my new neighbor.
This is Brenda...
... I have named her that because anyone named Brenda is sure to be a great neighbor, maybe even make you a casserole every now & then & I'm pretty sure she scrapbooks.
I've been told she is an Orb Spider, or an Orb Weaver. Her web is outstanding, so I'm going to add that I am also pretty sure she must crochet those cozies you put over your tea kettle.
Brenda is helping me face my fear of having a giant spider living in such close proximity to where I create all day, while eating all the pesky things that drive me crazy in my shed. I have noticed a serious decline in the fly population, mosquitos not much.
Right now we are content on just giving a wave as we pass on our commute each morning.
I will let you know if she invites me to tea, or any other such spidery activities.
All the l♡ve, Tawny
