Wordless Wednesday

Happy Mothers Day!

I watched as baby bird learned to fly yesterday... it was magical.
As the little guy hopped around trying to get used to this new world, his mom was right there showing him how it was done & his daddy was cheering him on from the tree above. She would hop & flap her wings & he would copy... she would chirp he would chirp & so it went on. I've heard it takes at least 5 days for a bird to learn to fly.


As I watched, it made me think about motherhood... & how many women in my life have given me wings & taught me how to fly.
My own mother, like myself, had to go from playing mommy to being mommy, & though it wasnt easy for her, & though she made mistakes, she never gave up. Teaching me to not count how many times you break, but rather how many times you put yourself back together.

I have also been lucky enough to have had both my maternal & paternal grandmothers in my life. Both so very different, but both have taught me so many of lifes lessons...

My Grandma Maggie was one of the most spectacular women I have ever known!

She was all firecrackers & burbon... She taught me not to take life so seriously, to stand up for what I believe in, and to be strong when I feel like all I am is weak. Oh, & she gave me my black belt in shopping!:)
I think that when Wanda Jackson wrote the song Fujiyama Mamma she had my grandma in mind!

And Then there is my Granny...
(I think this is Easter 1978, my granny loved dressing me up for church!)
When I think of JoAnna Dodson the first word that comes to mind is strength. As a mother she has stood by her children no matter right or wrong. She has sat with a broken heart & still never stopped loving. I used to think how blind she must be to support her children after everything thing they have done... but as I have grown & watched my own children grow I realized that no matter what they do, all I know is how to love them. Her house is still the safest place in the world to me, the smell of tea brewing on the stove & that familar cookie jar that didnt just hold regular cookies, but magical ones that were like sweet little bandaids for your soul... for when you skinned your knee, or your boyfriend broke your heart. She calls me JoEllen sometimes & laughs at her forgetfulness, Im scared to death of the day she doesnt know who I am, or how she has taught me to be the woman I am today.

And then there is my spiritual mom... I dont know how many people have this kind of woman in their lives, & if you dont then I truly feel sorry for you...
This is the woman who will spend hours on her knees, talking to God when you thought he wouldnt listen.

This is the woman who showed me what is was to forgive. I was an angry confussed girl when Glenda came into my life, she gave me a chance to find who I wanted to be, she prayed over Chris & I the day we were married, she was there for the birth of our children, & she is one of those people that even though we no longer see each other everyday we can pick up where we left off & laugh till we cry!

A simple thank you to these women seems so pale... so insignificant... but when I think of each of them & what they have done for me, the depth of that makes me speachless...

Spring Has Sprung...

& Im LOVING it!!



When Bella said she wanted to plant a garden I was all for it! A few herbs & flowers to brighten up the joint sounded great to me!
Little did I know that it would become a tiny little sancuary in my big crazy world!
The favorite part of my day is the last few moments when the sun is going down, just me & my Chef & the garden.
There are no kids... no crazy impossible projects nagging to be made.... just us & the smell of the lavender....

I have so many new designs itching at my finger tips! Oh if I only had the time! But alas... so I guess i will have to settle for weekend sculpting & giving you the sneak peeks throughout the week!

A very late Thank You...

I think my brain is going to ooze out of my ears if i have to decode anymore html!! LOL!

I didnt realize just how jacked up my website was till i sat down this morning @ 9:30 to tackle it... its now 7pm. & I have 2 pages done!

I was wanting to get a couple more sets listed tonight... but not sure my crainum could handle the pressure!!

But hey... I cant resist sharing what little is done with you so...

My Awakening....

I spent 2 weeks at home this past holiday, I needed the time to get some rest, get reinspired, & to reconnect.
And so that is what I did... I took naps... I did some research for some projects I have been needing to get started on, played with the kids, & I spent time with the most amazing man in the world... I think it was the best 2 weeks I have had in YEARS!!!
Not just because I didnt have to go to work everyday, or drop the kids off at school... or fight traffic... that was nice, dont get me wrong. But the best part of it all was my eyes were opened... to what I really want out of life...spending the day snuggled in Super Chefs arms, making dinner together, dreaming together, made me realize that my days as a WAHM were so amazing, & I am so angry at myself that i just gave that up... the time with my family, the time for my passion... & now Im greedy! I want it back!!!
So I have decided to make a change, to jump back in with both feet & see if I can stay afloat, see if anyone remembers me!
I have lots of work to do, till I can call my 9to5 job quits, but there is light at the end of this tunnel... I see it!!

So here we go... Back and better then ever~!!!

Happy 2010!

I wasnt planning on resolutions this year... they are so sterotypical... EVERYONE makes them, EVERYONE breaks them... & I hate the idea of doing something that EVERYONE is doing!! :)
However, I found myself thinking last night as the clock stroke midnight that if there was going to be change in my life that mattered it would be magical if began right then at that moment...
So I kissed the man of my dreams & promised my self that This year I would:
Spend more time traveling with the Super Chef
Be more patient with the kiddos
to take time everyday to experience my life... to make time for me.

oh & you know the usuals... lose some weight, get more organized, & stop smoking. HAHAHA!!

Anyway, whether you say twenty ten or two thousand ten... I hope its a great one & all of your dreams come true!

What a White Christmas it was!!!

Im still recouping from the last 48 hours!!

With Christmas eve came the usual traditions... cookie baking, movie watching, story reading fun... oh & the The Great Blizzard of 2009!!!

We got 14 inches of snow... thats is unheard of in Oklahoma City!!! Ice maybe, snow... NEVER!!

This was in the middle of the blizzard... we got about 5 more hours of crazy snow... the kids just sat at the windows in awe & anticipation! :)

And to wake up christmas morning to all that beautiful white was breathtaking!!

We had friends brave the roads to come spend christmas day with us.. but they got stuck here for the night!! So we made the best of it & with piles of blankets & pillows, & giant bowls of popcorn we all settled in for the best slumber party ever!!

And with all these kids everywhere... it made for some awesome snowball fun!!




I hope you Holidays have been as magical as ours....

Holiday Hub-Bub...

I drove home from work today with my head buzzing... with all the To Dos in my days...
Work party.... find that super awesome ugly christmas sweater, & make 14 fabulous gifts for 14 awesome crafters... schedule appointments for ALL kids to get teeth cleaned, & add me in there while Im at it...
Pack Cjs slumber party stuff, & grab present tomorrow...

All that & more was zipping through my head when I picked the kids up from school... & then there went more ToDos!!...
Kids party favors... gotta bake cookies for teachers gifts... get the dog into be groomed... mail all out of state presents...

dog needs shots....

FINALLY we made it home, & as I was getting dinner preped & the chef & I were going over the massive list that is consuming my life I hear a tiny giggle from the tree... & this is what I find....



THIS is why I love Christmas... THIS is why all the craziness is worth it...

An UNBirthday Surprise....

Well the party is coming to an end.... empty tea pots & cookie crumbs litter the floor... & the poor door mouse is stuck to the wall with jam!!

Our Wedding Photo Shoot....

Bella had the opportunity today to model in a wedding shoot for Hobby Lobby... it turned out just beautiful!! ... & what made it even cooler was I "made" all the stuff in it!....



It was 100 degrees out & you never would have known it the kids were champs!!

Long time No post!

Whats up Bloggmates!!

Its been awhile!

Sometimes life just gets in the way.... what with the new job... & the holidays.... & family stuff I feel like this is the first time in many weeks that I have gotten to really sit down & spend sometime here!.... So I am gonna make this post short & sweet...

There are LOTS of changes going on at Bada Blingg, starting with possible passing of the new lead regulations from the CPSIA in regards to handmade childrens products, which means that I will no longer be creating products for kiddos... :( I am so sad! If this law passes its going to shut down millions of small buisnesses. We will know if the law passes Feb 10th 2009. If you want to keep getting fabulous pretties for your little ones go HERE and sign this petion.

BUT on the plus side, it has forced me to finally launch my adult line of Bada Blingg... which is really funky fresh & very cool!! Sneek Preview coming soon....

What Christmas is all about...

I know I said that a give away was coming.... & it still is... but as I sat down today to post about it I saw this artical that really spoke what Christmas is all about to me & I felt I needed to share....

I have been in the shoes of the woman that was blessed by this secret santa... I know what it is like to have nothing & small babys to care for in the dead of winter... I know how proud we are as mommas to not ask for help & keep trudging along like nothing is wrong praying every night that there will be enough food on the table or that the heat will be on that day.

Please.... be a blessing to a stranger this holiday season.... & all year around for that matter... offer to buy the elderly ladies groceries that is standing behind you in the check out line.... or get a tank of gas for the family of 10 shoved into the rusty old chevy at the pump next to you.... do they "deserve it?" who cares... just DO IT... its not your job to decide who deserves what & when... its just your job to help anyone & everyone you can when you can...

You say its your birthday!

November kicks me in the butt EVERY year!!!
In a house with 3 november bdays... one each week! & then Thanksgiving... I feel like Im running for 30 days!
& this year has been EXTRA crazy with getting ready for State football Champs & preparing for me to start my new job!
But it has been fun!

Nov 5th was Chris... The kids made him a cookie cake



& then London took the whole family out to dinner... which of course EVERY boy in the house loved!!!! LOL!



& then it was Cjs bday Nov 14th BIG 7 YEARS!!... we had state champs that night so we sat out in the FREEZING cold & watched our Wildcats WIN in the most heart stopping game of the season! I am so proud of you boys!!! (if any of you are reading this!...LOL!)


And then it was on to a super fun day at Incredible Pizza for Critters Bday....



Where we played tons of super cool games...






& watched Brothers race go carts....



& instead of cake Cj just wanted free reign of the dessert buffet! LOL.... so his wish was my comand!



We all had a fun time.... & some of us didnt want to leave!
